Thomas Stark III is a lifelong resident of Amelia County. He graduated from Amelia High School in 1949, from Virginia Tech in 1953 and from the T. C. Williams School of Law in 1959.

He served as Commonwealth Attorney for Amelia County from 1960 to 1993, while engaging in the general practice of law. During the more than 50 years he has practiced law in Amelia County, his practice has primarily involved real estate transactions and chancery matters such as partition suits, boundary disputes and suits to quiet title to real estate, as well as office practice including drafting wills and other legal documents. He is basically a country lawyer.

Currently he is a Commissioner in Chancery and Commissioner of Accounts for the Circuit Court of Amelia County.  He spends almost all of his time in the Amelia office.

It should be noted that he has no plans to retire.
